When you enter Arborea for the first time, you’ll find yourself on the Island of Dawn. Follow the island’s Main Story Quests, marked with a red exclamation (❗) to learn the basics of TERA’s combat system and earn your first few levels. This serves as the game’s tutorial.
A Berserker begins his journey in Arborea on the Island of Dawn.
Following the Main Story Quests will progress the game’s storyline and grant enough experience to keep you moving forward. You’ll continue following these quests until you’re off of the island and until level 13.

After reaching level 13, a new system for leveling opens up for players who wish to jump into TERA’s combat system: Vanguard Initiative Missions. This is a special system that gives players opportunities to enjoy more exciting and challenging gameplay in TERA while also leveling up. Let’s take a look at the first leveling path that becomes available at 13: The Mob Vanguard Missions.
Mob vanguard missions are simple and fun missions that task players with defeating groups of monsters in the overworld. They supply great rewards such as tokens to buy gear and supplies, as well as experience.
The First Mob Vanguard: Mob Up Devan Remnants!
Upon reaching Level 13, you may open your vanguard menu with the H key to see all current vanguard missions. Vanguards automatically let you teleport to the camp nearest to them for convenience.
After teleporting near the camp, you will notice that some mobs have green ! marks by their nametags. These are the mobs that are part of your vanguard quest. Each quest requires you to kill 30 of the particular mobs associated with the quest to complete it.
Gather up a bunch of mobs and use your skills to defeat them all to complete the quest!
